Manpower company owner nabbed on allegations of fraud under pretext of sending people to Europe



KATHMANDU: The managing director of a manpower company has been arrested on allegations of fraud related to sending individuals to Europe under the pretext of providing jobs.

The arrested individual is Jayaram Poudel, a 41-year-old resident of Panauti, Kabhrepalanchok.

Poudel, along with Padma Kumari Shrestha, allegedly took Rs. 2 million each from two individuals promising them employment in Europe. They further assured salaries of more than Rs. 300,000 per month upon reaching Europe and being placed in a reputable company. However, authorities allege that this was a scam.

Poudel was apprehended by the Kathmandu Metropolitan Police from Koteshwar last Thursday based on a complaint filed at the police, by the victims.

Authorities have informed that further investigations and actions will be coordinated through the Department of Foreign Employment for additional inquiry and legal proceedings.
