UML Chairman Oli says discussion on monarchy irrelevant

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli has emphasized that discussing the possibility of reinstating monarchy in Nepal is irrelevant at this juncture.

Speaking at the Nepali Congress’ 48th National Unity and Reconciliation Day program, Oli underscored the lack of rational grounds supporting the revival of monarchy in Nepal.

He highlighted the ideology aimed at uplifting the impoverished while appealing to the Nepali public.

Emphasizing unity, he stated, “Prioritizing discussions on unity is beneficial. Democracy thrives on competition; this is a healthy aspect. Our vision doesn’t incline towards monarchy or dictatorship; it’s distinct.”

The event witnessed the presence of leaders from various parties including CPN-Maoist Center, Janata Samajbadi Party, CPN-Unified Socialist Party, Loktantrik Samajbadi Party, Rastriya Janamorcha, and Nepal Workers and Peasants Party.
