KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress (NC) Central Working Committee has decided to extend the term of the party’s sister organizations by six months.

The meeting, which commenced on the December 28, concluded with a resolution to extend the working period of the party’s sister organizations by six months.

A subsequent press conference organized by the Nepali Congress on Sunday revealed that the tenure extension applied to key entities such as the Nepal Student’s Association, Nepal Tarun Dal, Nepal Women’s Association, Nepal Peasant’s Federation, Nepal Democratic Indigenous Association, and Nepal Democratic Sports Association.

The central message emanating from the Congress meeting emphasizes that the effective implementation of the constitution stands as the ultimate solution to the prevailing economic, social, religious, cultural, and political challenges.

The Nepali Congress has also stressed the urgency of delivering justice to those affected by conflicts, along with their families, by expeditiously completing the outstanding tasks related to the peace process outlined in the twelve-point agreement and the Comprehensive Peace Agreement.

In a call for collective action, the meeting appealed to all stakeholders to reach a common agreement in the pursuit of these objectives.

Furthermore, the Nepali Congress asserted its commitment to prioritize individuals who have demonstrated unwavering dedication to the party, maintain a commendable reputation, and have not yet had the opportunity to contribute, from the list of names recommended by the provinces for the National Assembly elections.

The Nepali Congress has also resolved to usher in a fresh wave of leaders during the upcoming National Assembly elections.

Min Bahadur Biswakarma, the Head of the Publicity Department, made this announcement following the central committee meeting.

Biswakarma highlighted that the decision aims to provide opportunities to individuals who have made substantial contributions to the party, with a keen focus on considering ethnic, regional, and gender balance.

Emphasizing the criteria for selection, he specified that the party is keen on welcoming qualified individuals with a track record of commitment, a clean image, and a demonstrated ability to contribute meaningfully in the parliamentary arena.

Moreover, he stressed that priority would be given to those who have not previously received opportunities and to those who have been deprived of such chances for various reasons.
