KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office has ramped up efforts to curb traffic rule violations.
It has intensified its action against drivers violating the rules, aiming to reduce the risk of road accidents.
Special police teams have been mobilized across all three districts of Kathmandu Valley (Kathmandu, Lalitpur, and Bhaktapur) to enforce traffic regulations and ensure road safety.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police Rajendra Prasad Bhatta, spokesperson of Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, a total of 1,527 drivers have faced penalties in the last 24 hours.
Notably, 75 drivers were penalized for driving without a license from Monday morning to Tuesday morning at 6:00 a.m.
Among the violators, 21 drivers were charged for lane violations, 12 for crossing red lights, 17 for unnecessary honking, 15 for driving without number plates, and 321 for exceeding the speed limit.
Spokesperson Bhatta emphasized that of the total penalties, 1,066 were issued for various traffic rule violations.
He further urged all drivers to adhere strictly to traffic regulations, highlighting the potential risks associated with breaking these rules.
The police have appealed to the public to prioritize safety on the roads and operate vehicles in accordance with the prescribed rules and regulations to prevent potential accidents.
