Intensive investigation underway on Mugu incident



KARNALI: An intensive investigation is taking place regarding the incident in which four members of a single family were found dead in Chhayanath Rara municipality-6, Mandu village.

According to the Mugu Police Chief, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Birendra Thapa, the incident was suspected to occur on Wednesday night.

Acting on the tip-off of the locals, police had found dead 28-year-old mother Shreedevi Bohora, her 11-year-old son Manoj, eight-year-old daughter Apsara and eight-month-old son Rahar Bohora on October 27 two days after the incident reportedly occurred.

Police took the bodies of all four persons to the Mugu Hospital for a post-mortem on Saturday immediately Deepak Bohora, husband of deceased Shreedevi, who was in Qatar for employment returned home.

But, the post-mortem has not been so far undertaken when Deepak denied receiving the bodies till the murderers of his wife, sons and daughters were identified.

Immediately after the incident, a special investigation team of the District Police Office, Mugu headed by DSP Birendra Thapa focused its field-based investigation in an intensive manner.

Likewise, a special investigation bureau team with a trained dog from the Karnali Province Police Office Surkhet has also intensified the investigation suspecting that it was not an incident of death but of mass murder.

Likewise, a special investigation team has also reached the incident site in Mugu to support the investigation into the incident.

Spokesperson of Province Police Office, SSP Gopal Chandra Bhattarai informed that the Chief of Karnali Province Police Office Surkhet, Deputy Inspector General of Police Bhim Prasad Dhakal has been at the incident site to intensify the investigation.

“Investigation into the incident has been intensified. All possible measures have been put in place to identify the guilty in the incident. We will soon reach the level of establishing the identity of the guilty”, he shared.

However, the police have not ascertained concrete evidences in course of their efforts to establish the truth behind the incident.
