PM Dahal reaffirm govt’s commitment to combat corruption

Prime Minister (PM) Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” reaffirmed the government’s commitment to combat corruption, underscoring its unwavering dedication to the cause. The Prime Minister, who is also the Chairman of the Maoist Center, emphasized the government’s resolute nature of the ongoing anti-corruption campaign.

NOC raises prices of petroleum products

The government has increased the prices of petrol, diesel, kerosene, and cooking gas in Nepal. The Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) announced on Thursday that the new prices will come into effect starting Friday morning. As per the latest adjustment by NOC, the cost of petrol will see an increase of Rs 4 per liter, while both diesel and kerosene oil will see an uptick of Rs 3 per liter.

ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier: Nepal wins by five runs

Nepal won its first match against Malaysia by five runs under the ongoing ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier.Losing the toss and putting into bat first in the Kuala Lumpur-based Bayuemas Oval Cricket Ground today, Nepal posted a target of 85 runs against the host Malaysia.

Monsoon-triggered incidences result in 73 casualties

Monson-related incidences claimed the lives of 73 in between June 14 and August 25 this year. The casualties were due to landslides, floods, heavy rains and lightning strikes. The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority reported that 102 individuals sustained injuries as a result of these monsoon-triggered disasters while 20 have gone missing.

One held with homemade pistol

Police last night apprehended a person along with two homemade pistols and a round of bullet from Lokanthali of Madhyapur municipality in the district. Police Range Bhaktapur’s superintendent of police Prajit KC said Junge Majhi, 40, who originally hails from Balaiya municipality in Udaypur and currently resides in Lokanthali was arrested by a patrol team from the Police Sector, Balkot over his suspicious activities on the street.

Devotees throng Gosaikunda on Janai Purnima festival

Devotees thronged Gosaikunda since early morning today to observe the Janai Purnima festival. Over 4,000 people reached the place to partake in the Janai Purnima festival. Gosaikunda, a freshwater lake of profound religious importance, lies at an altitude of 14, 370 feet above the sea level.

Tourist arrivals soar in Lumbini

The past years have witnessed an upswing in tourist arrivals to Lumbini. According to a data, Lumbini, the birthplace of Gautam Buddha, has undergone a substantial surge in tourist traffic, particularly in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic. As of July 2023, the Lumbini Development Trust reports an astounding 500 percent increase in tourist arrivals (excluding Nepal and India) compared to the same period the previous year.

‘Janai Purnima’ observed today

‘Janai Purnima’ which is also called ‘Rishi Tarpani’ festival is being celebrated across the country today. The festival is basically observed by the majority Hindus in the country. On the occasion of Janai Purnima, the tagadharis or those who wear the ‘Janai’ (the sacred thread) around their bodies from the left shoulder to right change the sacred thread today after having a haircut and a bath.
