Madhes CM expands cabinet for fifth time



KATHMANDU: The government of Madhes province has expanded for the fifth time.

Chief Minister Saroj Kumar Yadav expanded the government and administered the oath of office and secrecy to two ministers on Monday.

Nepali Congress lawmaker Mohammad Samim took oath as Minister of Home, Communications, and Law, while Janamat Party lawmakers Chandan Singh and Ranju Khang took oath as Minister of Labor and Transport and Minister of State respectively.

However, Surita Sah, who became a minister from Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP), has not yet been assigned any ministry.

Chief Minister Yadav has prepared to split a ministry and give responsibility to Surita.

Basanta Kushwaha and state minister Sanjay Yadav, who became ministers from the Janamat Party, resigned on Monday as per the instructions of the party. Mahesh Prasad Yadav remains as Minister of Education and Social Welfare from the Janamat Party.

Kushwaha and Yadav’s responsibilities were also removed on May 25. The Ministry of Land Management, Agriculture, and Cooperatives held by Kushwaha was taken away and Govinda Neupane of the CPN-Unified Socialist Party was assigned the portfolio.

After that, Kushwaha and Yadav, the minister of state in the said ministry, had been ministers without portfolio.
