HoR meeting postponed amid standoff over gold smuggling case

KATHMANDU: The House of Representatives (HoR) meeting, which was scheduled for today, was adjourned after the main opposition party, CPN-UML, remained firm on their demand for the formation of a high-level committee to investigate the one quintal gold smuggling case.

Speaker Devraj Ghimire’s press adviser, Shekhar Adhikari, stated that the House was adjourned through a notice.

The next HoR meeting is now rescheduled to convene at 1 pm on Tuesday.

The ongoing standoff has arisen due to CPN-UML’s persistent call for the establishment of a high-level investigation committee to probe the gold smuggling case.

Amidst the tension, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda and CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli held a discussion at Baluwatar on Monday morning in an effort to break the impasse in Parliament.
