Newly-appointed ministers sworn-in

Newly-appointed ministers took oath today. President Ram Chandra Paudel administered the oath to the newly-appointed ministers amid a special program at the President’s Office, Sheetal Niwas on Friday afternoon. Nepali Congress leader Purna Bahadur Khadka has been appointed as the Defense Minister along with the Deputy Prime Minister.

Janamat Party quits government

Minister of Drinking Water, Abdul Khan, has submitted his resignation to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda. Khan submitted his resignation the same day when Prime Minister Dahal expanded the cabinet.

Finance Minister Mahat pledges to boost up economic confidence

Newly appointed Minister or Finance Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat said the first aid was to boost up low confidence prevailing in the economy by placing short-term, mid-term and long-term plans. Taking charge of the ministry today, Finance Minister Dr Mahat said the first and foremost priority of the government was to bring up the confidence in all sectors.

Economy will see better days soon: DPM Shrestha

Deputy Prime Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha assured on Friday that the weakening economy of the country would see improvement soon. Inaugurating the 24th Flora Expo organized by Floriculture Association Nepal (FAN)  in Kathmandu on Friday, the Deputy Prime Minister said that the government has realized  a need to immediately take steps for economic improvement, has already done homework towards this end.

President Paudel and PM Dahal hold talks

President Ram Chandra Paudel and Prime Minister (PM) Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda held talks at the President’s Office, Shital Niwas on Friday morning. PM Dahal reached Shital Niwas to meet President Paudel.

EC appoints Chief Election Officers for by-election

The Election Commission has appointed Chief Election Officers for the by-election taking place in three constituencies on April 23. The Commission appointed three Chief Election Officers effective from April 1.
