First day of SEE passes peacefully

KATHMANDU: The first day of this year’s Secondary School Examination (SEE) that started across the country from 8:00 am today concluded peacefully.

According to National Examinations Boards’ Examination Controller Bishnu Narayan Shrestha, the SEE has been held in 2,036 examination centers in all 77 districts in the country and one center in Japan.

On the first day, the students attended exams for compulsory English while the students from the Sanskrit stream took exams for compulsory Sanskrit language and literature and compulsory Nepali.

Controller Shrestha shared that the examination of a student in Bara district has been cancelled for her attempts to leak the question paper.

Among the total 484,227 students registered for the SEE, 55 students with visual impairment also sat for the exam. NEB has arranged for separate sub-center nearby the main exam center for them.

According to Shrestha, the students who were in prisons and reform houses for various reasons also took the exam from their respective places.

Among the today’s examinees, 14 have attended the exam in a center in Japan.

Shrestha shared that the students in Japan are taking their SEE from an academic institution in Tokyo. There has been a school which teaches Nepali curriculum with the approval from the government of Japan.

A total of 78,000 human resources have been mobilized at the examination centers.

Altogether 5 million set of question papers were published for this year’s SEE. The exam will last through April 12.
