Cricketers Rajbanshi, Kandel honored in Biratnagar

BIRATNAGAR: The Biratnagar Metropolitan City has honored cricketers Lalit Narayan Rajbanshi and Dipesh Kandel with cash prize.

The cricketers have been provided with a purse of Rs 100,000 each and letter of appreciation.

Social Development Minister of Koshi Province Buddhi Kumar Rajbhandari and Mayor of Biratnangar Metropolitan City Nagesh Koirala feted the cricketers.

Minister Rajbhandari said it was government’s responsibility to protect the sportsperson since they are the nation’s pride.

Earlier, the City had decided to honour Rajbanshi, a member of the Nepal’s national cricket team, and Kandel, a member of the Under 19 team.

As a national team member, Rajbanshi played an important role in taking Nepali cricket team to the World Cup qualifiers while Kandel’s role in bringing Nepal to the World Cup by scoring a hat-trick against the UAE in the U-19 World Cup qualifiers is widely appreciated.
