KATHMANDU: The Office of the Attorney General (OAG) has filed a petition in the Supreme Court (SC) against the Patan High Court’s order to release Sandeep Lamichhane, the former captain of the Nepali National Cricket Team, on bail.

On Tuesday, the Attorney General’s Office filed a petition in SC demanding the arrest of Sandeep, saying that he was released on bail without proper reason.

The spokesperson of the Attorney General’s office, Sanjeevraj Regmi, shared that OAG sought annulation of the High Court’s order to release Sandeep in bail, and the accused should be kept in custody.

Although Kathmandu District Court had ordered to continue trial holding rape accused Sandeep in custody, Patan High Court had ordered to release him on bail seeking Rs 2 million from him.
