Lalitpur City clinches NSL title defeating Dhangadhi

KATHMANDU: Lalitpur City FC has secured the title of Nepal Super League (NSL) in the final match played on Saturday.

In a final match held on Saturday at Dasarath Stadium, Tripureshwor, Kathmandu, Lalitpur City defeated Dhangadhi FC with a scoreline of 3-2.

Trailing 1-0 early in the game, Lalitpur City bounced back to clinch the victory. In Lalitpur’s win, Imoh Ezekiel scored two goals while Dinesh Henjan added another. Imoh scored the first goal for Lalitpur in the 45th minute. Then, Dinesh scored in the 51st minute to double Lalitpur’s lead. Later, in the 58th minute, Imoh secured his second goal, leading Lalitpur to a 3-1 advantage.

Imoh of Lalitpur has now become the top scorer of this season with a total of 6 goals. Earlier, in the 38th minute of the game, Afeez Olawale of Dhangadhi scored, giving his team an initial lead. Then, in the 98th minute, Ahmed Hijazi scored the second goal for Dhangadhi, attempting to turn the game around.

In this match, Richard Osei Agyemang of Dhangadhi received a red card in the 80th minute, followed by Lalitpur securing a yellow card. Lalitpur City previously reached the final by defeating Kathmandu Rangers in the eliminator and Pokhara Thunders in the second qualifier after securing 2 wins, 4 draws, and 2 losses in the league phase, finishing second with 13 points.

On the other hand, Dhangadhi, with 3 wins, 4 draws, and 1 loss in the league stage, accumulated 13 points, securing the top spot, and defeating Pokhara Thunders in the first qualifier to reach the final.
