Lalitpur City clinches NSL title defeating Dhangadhi
Lalitpur City FC has secured the title of Nepal Super League (NSL) in the final match played on Saturday.
In a final match held on Saturday at Dasarath Stadium, Tripureshwor, Kathmandu, Lalitpur City defeated Dhangadhi FC with a scoreline of 3-2.
Trailing 1-0 early in the game, Lalitpur City bounced back to clinch the victory. In Lalitpur’s win, Imoh Ezekiel scored two goals while Dinesh Henjan added another. Imoh scored the first goal for Lalitpur in the 45th minute. Then, Dinesh scored in the 51st minute to double Lalitpur’s lead. Later, in the 58th minute, Imoh secured his second goal, leading Lalitpur to a 3-1 advantage.
PM Dahal vows to address labor issues
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ pledged his commitment to resolving the concerns of the labor force, emphasizing their rights and welfare.
Addressing the 6th national trade union conference organized by the Joint Trade Union Coordination Centre (JTUCC) in Kathmandu, the Prime Minister underscored his government’s dedication to prioritizing the labor sector during his tenure. He assured the formulation of worker-friendly policies and programs to support their cause.
Prime Minister Dahal highlighted the current government as the most supportive of laborers and assured action to address their legitimate demands. He pledged to establish a constitutional national labor commission and ensure a 10 percent representation of workers in state mechanisms. Warning employers who do not enlist employees under the social security scheme, he vowed appropriate measures.
Balkumari Incident: Lalitpur’s CDO transferred to Home Ministry, SSP to Headquarters, and three officials including DSP suspended
In response to the tragic clash between agitating EPS students and security personnel, the government has made significant personnel changes.
Chief District Officer of Lalitpur, Rudra Prasad Pandit, has been transferred to the Ministry of Home Affairs, while SSP Siddi Bikram Shah has been reassigned to the Police Headquarters. These decisions, made during a Cabinet meeting this afternoon, were based on the perceived weak security during the clash.
Additionally, the government has taken disciplinary action against several officials involved in the incident. DSP Umesh Lamasl, who served as the field commander during the clash, Director of EPS Korea Section Gurudatta Subedi, and Bodh Raj Dhanwar, the Personal Security Officer (PSO) of Minister Prakash Jwala, have been suspended.
Over one million tourists flock to Nepal in 2023
Nepal welcomed more than a million foreign tourists arriving by air throughout the year 2023.
According to Nepal Tourism Board statistics, as of 5:00 AM this morning, 1,008,614 tourists had arrived in Nepal.
This marks the achievement of the government’s target of attracting one million foreign tourists in 2023, a goal mentioned in the current fiscal year’s budget.
The country’s tourism, significantly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, has nearly returned to its former state. The NTB reports an almost 85 percent recovery in tourism this year.
Government decides to provide Rs 1 million compensation for families of Balkumari incident victims
In response to the tragic events at Balkumari on Friday, a Cabinet meeting held today decided to provide compensation of Rs one million each to the families of two youths killed during the clash.
Likewise, the government has also decided to provide free treatments to those injured in the incident.
Sandeep Lamichhane to appeal at High Court seeking revision of conviction in rape case
Former Captain of Nepal’s Men Cricket Team, Sandeep Lamichhane, is poised to file an appeal at the High Court to challenge his conviction in a rape case.
Expressing dissatisfaction with the decision, Lamichhane’s advocate, Saroj Krishna Ghimire, affirmed their intent to appeal at the High Court for a revision.
Shipbuilding exam participants now eligible for production sectors
Participants who undertook language exams for shipbuilding and are employed in production sectors (manufacturing) in South Korea, are now eligible to apply for exams in production-oriented sectors.
The Department of Foreign Employment has commenced accepting applications from over 30,000 examinees for the language exams related to shipbuilding, scheduled from January 1-3. EPS Korea Branch has specified that only those who have completed the shipbuilding exams will qualify to apply for jobs in the shipbuilding sector during this period.
Additional 14 industries face power cut for unpaid dues
The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has cut off electricity supply to an additional 14 industries, apart from those previously disconnected from dedicated feeders and trunk lines for consuming power without paying the premium on dues.
NEA disconnected the power supply to the industries with over 50 million rupees due on Friday
The industries disconnected on Friday include Baba Jute Mill (56.1 million), Nigale Cement (142.1 million), Triveni Synthetic Yarn Industry (156.6 million), Himal Iron and Steel (81.3 million), Jagdamba Enterprises (479.8 million), Hama Iron (115.5 million), Everest Paper Mill (213.6 million), among others.
Similarly, Cosmos Cement (358.2 million), Shubhashree Agni Cement (381 million), Jagdamba Synthetic (475.3 million), Gharana Foods (50.9 million), Siddharth Petplast (52.4 million), Butwal Cement (329.8 million), Narayani Ispat (784.9 million) are also among those facing power disconnection
