KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has underscored his commitment to formulating crucial laws essential for the effective implementation of federalism, expressing his focus on the role of an architect of federalism and a leader in constitution-making.

During a group meeting with Chief Ministers from all seven provinces at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar, PM Dahal emphasized the importance of implementing federalism and stated, “As you all are aware, I had crafted the vision of a federal republic and struggled for this. I played a lead role in inscribing this system in the constitution. Thus, the implementation of the constitution is my big concern and priority.”

Acknowledging the time-consuming process of bringing all parliamentary parties to a consensus in the lead-up to federalism’s implementation, PM Dahal assured that the current government is swiftly working on formulating crucial laws, including the federal civil service act, federal education act, police adjustment act, and other legislations required for constitutional implementation.

“Bills already presented in the parliament will be brought to a conclusion through discussion. I will put efforts to finalize them through discussion at the top level,” PM Dahal added.

During the meeting, Chief Ministers drew attention to the implementation of constitutional provisions on federalism, emphasizing the constitutionally provisioned list of concurrent authorities. They also called for the implementation of conclusions drawn from the last Chief Ministers’ conference held in Pokhara.
