Reinstatement of monarchy not in horizon: UML Chair Oli

BAITADI: CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli has stated that the reinstatement of monarchy is not on the horizon in the country.

Oli dismissed any notion of reverting to the past, stating, “We cannot go back. We do not believe that some are born to be kings and some are born to be slaves.”

Highlighting the challenges faced by the country’s post-UML government, Oli expressed concern over the increasing instability in politics and the declining economy.

“After we (UML) left the government, the country’s economy went down in these two and a half years, politics went into instability, employment opportunities ended,” he lamented.

Drawing attention to the financial strain on the current government, Oli remarked, “Now the government does not even have the money to maintain employees. The situation is such that we have to raise internal debt to sustain employees in the first four months. If so, what will be the situation?”

Oli vehemently opposed attempts to divide the Nepalese people based on identity, asserting that the UML has been at the forefront of addressing identity issues.

He claimed, “UML has addressed the issue of identity the most; we have included the principle of proportionality and inclusiveness in the constitution. There can be no politics of identity that spreads violence, anarchy, and terror.”

Emphasizing the urgency of addressing unemployment, Oli recalled his tenure’s achievements, stating, “During my tenure, the number of young people going abroad decreased by 18 percent, and we kept 9 lakh people above the poverty line.”

As the nation grapples with political and economic challenges, Oli urged the government to prioritize the elimination of unemployment as a crucial step towards stability and progress.
