T20 World Cup Qualifiers: Singapore set 146-run target for Nepal



KATHMANDU: Singapore has set a target of 146 runs for Nepal at the Tribhuvan University (TU) Ground in Kirtipur in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 Asia Qualifier.

After winning the toss and opting to bat first, Singapore posted a total of 145 runs for the loss of 9 wickets on Monday.

Despite facing an early setback with the loss of captain Aritra Dutta in the first over, Singapore managed to build a 52-run partnership for the second wicket.

However, the momentum shifted in Nepal’s favor as Sandeep Lamichhane claimed the second wicket, putting pressure on the Singaporean team.

Sandeep bowled Surendran Chandramohan for 6 runs in the fifth ball of the sixth over.

Nepal continued to dominate the game with Gulsan Jha taking 2 crucial wickets in the eighth over.

Gulsan had Rohan Rangarajan caught by Sandeep Zora for 46 runs, the highest score for Singapore, achieved with 9 fours and 1 six off 30 balls.

Subsequently, Gulson dismissed Amartya Kaul, while Sandeep took Janakprakas with an lbw for 7 runs.

Abhinas Bohra caught Thilipan and Ananth Krishna, securing two wickets in the 18th over.

Earlier, Nepal’s Karan KC made a significant contribution by bowling out Singapore’s captain Aritra Dutt in the second ball of the innings, providing Nepal with a promising start.

In the final over, Avinash Bohara of Nepal dismissed Arbhavir Chaudhary after he scored 37 runs.

Boasting an impressive bowling performance, Avinash secured 3 wickets, conceding 43 runs with 1 maiden in 4 overs.

Additionally, Gulsan Jha, Karan KC, and Sandeep Lamichhan each contributed with 2 wickets.
