UML-led government in Koshi Province toppled as CM Karki fails to secure vote of confidence

Chief Minister of Koshi Province, Hikmat Kumar Karki, was unable to obtain a vote of confidence from the State Assembly on Friday. The State Assembly rejected Chief Minister Karki’s proposal for a vote of confidence. To achieve a majority in the 93-member State Assembly, he needed 47 votes.

SC issues show cause order over habeas corpus writ

The Supreme Court on Friday issued an order to show cause in regard to a writ of habeas corpus registered by three arrestees over the Lalita Niwas land procurement scam. According to SC Spokesperson Bimal Paudel, the apex court conducted a hearing on the writ on Friday and issued the show-cause order.

Landslide disrupts Kanti Highway

The vehicular movement along a section of the Kanti Highway was obstructed after a landslide occurred near Bagmati bridge at Bhattedanda of Lalitpur this morning. The site is some two kilometres away from the bordering area of Lalitpur and Makawanpur districts.

Parliament plays key role in reducing arrears: Speaker Ghimire

Kala-azar patients increasing in Kalikot

All five local levels in Kalikot district have recorded Kala-azar patients this year. Black fever, commonly known as Kala-azar, is seen mostly in the tropical region of the country but has now spread in the hilly districts as well.
