KATHMANDU: As many as 157,000 plus saplings were planted on the occasion of the 6th National Tree Plantation Day, Thursday.

The Ministry of Forest and Environment marked Day for the protection and promotion of forest and environment.

The Department of Forest and Soil Conservation stated that 157,580 saplings of different species were planted as per the reports received from across the country.

The Department has thanked the local communities, local levels, province governments, forest users groups, civil society, security bodies and all stakeholders for their active participation to make the Day a success.

In the upcoming fiscal year, the government has planned to plant 30 million saplings across the country.
