Balkumari Clash: Second youth succumbs to injuries, adding to fatal toll

KATHMANDU: Following the earlier report of a 23-year-old youth losing his life in the Balkumari clash, another young individual has tragically succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment at Patan Hospital.

The initial casualty, Sujan Raut, had passed away at Kist Hospital.

Tensions escalated as Students of the Employment Permit System (EPS) intensified their protests against the Korean government’s decision to exclude those who had participated in ESP examinations from applying for new vacancies in the manufacturing sectors.

The protest took a fatal turn when demonstrators set ablaze a vehicle belonging to Physical Infrastructure Minister Prakash Jawala. Security personnel responded with tear gas to bring the situation under control.

Reports suggesting that Raut succumbed to a gunshot wound fired by police have sparked controversy. However, the police maintain that no gunshots were fired during the clash.
