Maoist Chairman Prachanda ‘disrupting’ Nepal’s peace process, UML Chair Oli tells Guterres

KATHMANDU: Chairman of the main opposition party CPN-UML KP Oli accused Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda of causing disruptions in the completion of the peace process due to what he said Prachanda’s “dominant attitude.”

During a meeting with United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres at the Federal Parliament Building on Sunday, Oli highlighted that Prime Minister Dahal’s support for violent activities has made the peace process challenging.

UML leader Pradeep Gyawali, who was present during Oli’s discussion with UN Secretary-General Guterres, pointed out that Dahal’s commemoration of the beginning of the Maoist war further complicated the peace process.

Meanwhile, Secretary-General Guterres emphasized his desire to expedite the conclusion of Nepal’s peace process.

Gyawali stated that Prime Minister Dahal’s act of celebrating the start of the Maoist war as a day has added to the discomfort in the peace process.

On the other hand, Secretary-General Guterres said that he wanted to see the peace process of Nepal come to a conclusion as soon as possible.
