LHASA: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, who is currently on an official visit to China since September 23, said that accessible arrangements will be made to visit popular Hindu shrines Mt Kailash and Mansarovar Lake in China via Humla district of Nepal.
PM Dahal visited Mt Kailash and Manasarovar Lake on Thursday.
The Prime Minister said that provisions would be made for the pilgrims to visit Mt Kailash and Manasarovar Lake through the Nepali route.
According to the PM, an agreement has been made with the Chinese government in principle for the purpose of allowing travel of visitors and pilgrims including Nepali, Indian and other countries’ tourists through Humla to Mt. Kailash and Mansarovar.
The Mansarovar Lake lies some 250 kilometers away from Ngri of Tibet Autonomous Region of China and it is just 160 kms away from Humla district’s headquarters in Simkot.
However, the bumpy road from Simkot to Mansarovar Lake has added to difficulties for travelers though the route is good for Nepali and Indian visitors for many reasons including travel costs, distance, time, visa and others.
The Mt Kailash and Mansarovar Lake are holy shrines for the Hindus. The Prime Minister had arrived here from Lhasa in a flight of the Tibet Airlines.
