Rabi Lamichhane to initiate process to acquire Nepali citizenship today

KATHMANDU: Rabi Lamichhane, who was expelled from the parliament and the government due to the decision of the Supreme Court in the case related to illegal citizenship, is likely to initiate the process to acquire Nepali citizenship from the Kathmandu District Administration Office today.

According to the sources of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), Lamichhane, the former chairman of the party, is going to the Kathmandu District Administration Office to acquire the certificate of citizenship of Nepal by fulfilling all legal formalities.

Lamichhane, who became the Chairman and Member of Parliament without completing the process of retrieving his Nepali citizenship despite having renounced his American citizenship, was dismissed by the Constitutional Bench of the Supreme Court on Friday after his citizenship was declared invalid.
