Culture of demanding instant resignation inappropriate: PM Dahal

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has expressed his disapproval of the practice of demanding immediate resignations from Prime Ministers and Ministers. During a conversation with journalists at Tribhuvan International Airport upon his return from Rome, Italy on Friday morning, the Prime Minister was asked about the CPN-UML’s demand for the resignation of the Home Minister and Finance Minister over the gold smuggling issue.

PM Dahal returns home from Italy

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has returned home today after concluding his six-day visit to Italy. The visit, which began on July 22, saw Prime Minister Dahal leading a Nepali delegation to attend the ‘Food System Summit +2’ organized by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Rome, Italy.

Koshi Province Chief Parashuram Khapung called on Friday again for the formation of a new government with the participation of two or more parties in the province. Province Chief Khapung called the parties to form the government after the Supreme Court revoked Nepali Congress parliamentary party leader Uddhav Thapa-led coalition government on Thursday.

Col. Gurung designated as Officiating Spokesperson of NA

Colonel Ashok Gurung has been designated as the Officiating Spokesperson of the Nepali Army. Since NA’s current Spokesperson Krishna Prasad Bhandari is currently abroad participating in a program, Colonel Gurung took over the role as the Officiating Spokesperson effective from today, according to the NA.

Gold traded at Rs. 112,600 per tola today

Gold price decreased by Rs 900 per tola in the domestic market today. According to the Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association, the price of fine gold has been set at Rs. 112,600 per tola, while standard gold is being traded at Rs. 112,050 per tola.

NTUC demands minimum wage of workers

Nepal Trade Union Congress (NTUC) has demanded to determine the minimum remuneration of workers soon through Minimum Wages Fixation Board. NTUC is the trade union close to the Nepali Congress.

Lumpy skin kills 381 animals in Ramechhap

As high as 381 livestock died of lumpy skin disease in Ramechhap district while the number of infected ones reached 21,000 plus. So far, 75 animals died in Ramechhap Municipality, 40 in Manthali Municipality, 15 in Gokulganga Rural Municipality and five in Khandadevi Rural Municipality, as shared by the livestock service section of the concerned local levels.

Home Minister Shrestha rejects stepping down amid controversy

Home Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha has emphatically stated that he will not be stepping down in response to the CPN-UML’s demand for his resignation. Shrestha fiercely criticized the UML’s attempts to remove him from office, accusing him of failing to prevent the smuggling of one quintal of gold from the Tribhuvan International Airport.
