PM Dahal proposes to formulate budget under directly elected lawmakers’ leadership



KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has proposed to start the budget-making process of the respective districts and regions under the leadership of directly elected members of the House of Representatives.

Addressing the lawmakers’ queries on the budget for the next fiscal year 2080/81, the Prime Minister suggested preparing the budget under directly elected representatives’ leadership.

“I propose to start the process of preparing the budget under the leadership of the directly elected lawmakers and involve other lawmakers in the drafting process as well,” he said on Wednesday.

PM Dahal reiterated the participation of the people’s representatives in budget formulation.

“In order to improve the budget-making process, it has been announced in the budget statement that the principles and priorities of the budget will be submitted to the parliament within February from the next financial year,” he said, adding, “By doing this, the participation of representatives in the budget will surely increase.”
