Rabi Lamichhane and Swarnim Wagle sworn in as MPs

Newly-elected Members of Parliament (MPs) Rabi Lamichhane and Swarnim Wagle from Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) took the oath of office and secrecy today. Speaker Devraj Ghimire administered oath to Lamichhane and Wagle at the Parliament Secretariat, Singha Darbar today.

Twin earthquakes hit Nepal’s Bajura district

Twin earthquakes of magnitudes 4.8 and 5.9 hit Nepal’s western district of Bajura last night. The epicenter of the earthquake was at Dahakot of Bajura district, approximately 800km northwest of Kathmandu.

Rabi Lamichhane should be given ministry of his choice: Tourism Minister Kirati

Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation Minister Sudan Kirati has said that Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ should give Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chairman Rabi Lamichhane the ministry of his choice. On Friday, at the event organized by the Federation of Hoteliers and the Tourism Board, Minister Kirati said that Prime Minister Dahal should give the chosen ministry to lawmaker Lamichhane.

IPPF Director General Bermejo visiting Nepal from April 30

Dr Alvaro Bermejo, Director General of International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF), will be visiting Nepal beginning from April 30. According to the Federation, during the five-day visit concluding on May 4, Dr. Bermejo is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal along with senior representatives of the government.

Nepal Police gets DIG Kadayat as Spokesperson

Nepal Police has designated Deputy Inspector General Kuber Kadayat as its Central Spokesperson. The Police Headquarters said the Central Police Spokesperson’s role is to disseminate through the mass media the activities of public interest carried out by Nepal Police.

Industry Minister insists on increasing domestic production

Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies, Ramesh Rijal, has said imports-based economy would never take the country towards the path of prosperity.  Underlining the need of increasing domestic production and the consumption to downsize the volume of imports, the Minister was of the view that production-oriented economy was the path towards the destination of prosperity.

NAC aircraft makes successful test flight at Resunga Airport

A plane of Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) made a successful test flight at Resunga Airport at 7:39 am today. NAC’s plane (9N-ABT) departed from Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), Kathmandu, landed at Resunga Airport located at Simichaur of Resunga Municipality-10 in Gulmi.

Motorcycle hits pedestrian to death

A pedestrian died after a motorcycle (Na 22 Pa 6800) hit him at Sajhapur in Bharatpur Metropolitan City-28, Chitwan. The accident occurred last night killing Jalawa Mahato, 55, of the area.
