KATHMANDU: CPN-UML vice-chairman Subash Nembang has said that UML would field a candidate for the post of President.
Speaking to the media after the Martyrs Memorial Program held at the party office Chyasal on Saturday, Nembang claimed that the ruling coalition has already agreed on the UML’s candidacy for the President.
“Since it was already agreed that UML would field a candidate for the presidency, UML will put forward a candidate,” he said, adding, “The national consensus should be sought on the UML candidate.”
He shared that UML chairman KP Oli is also discussing the issues with other political parties.
Similarly, he commented that the Supreme Court’s verdict against Rabi Lamichhane should not be made a big issue as it would not affect the ruling coalition much.
“It should not be taken as a surprise as anyone can be prosecuted according to the law,” the UML vice-chair said, adding, “Lamichhane can contest the by-election with the citizenship.”
