KATHMANDU: In a significant breakthrough, police apprehended Sujit Kumar Singh, a key suspect in the murder of Rupesh Swarnakar, the principal of Bal Ekata Boarding School in Kalaiya, Bara.
Singh, an alleged Indian national originally from Bihar, was arrested on Tuesday night from Bishrampur Rural Municipality-3.
The arrest follows an intensive two-month-long search for Singh, who was shot twice in the legs during the arrest. Police successfully seized a pistol and four bullets from Singh at the time of his apprehension. The alleged murderer is currently undergoing treatment for his gunshot wounds at the Provincial Hospital in Kalaiya.
Earlier, the police had arrested 5 more people including the main plotter identified as 22-year-old Radha Gupta of Kalaiya sub-metropolis-6 Madarsa tol, 34-year-old Jamil Akhtar, 26-year-old Riyaz Ansari of Rampur, 23-year-old Chandan Kumar and Abhinav Kumar of Motihari East Champaran India.
The tragic incident involving Principal Swarnakar occurred on October 30 when he was shot and killed.
