CHITWAN: Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba reaffirmed the indispensability of the republican system of governance in the country.

Speaking to the media at Bharatpur Airport in Chitwan district today, Deuba emphasized, “There is no point in opposing the republican system; it is not going to change.”

When questioned about whether political parties were disturbed by ‘anti-republican activities,’ Deuba, also the former Prime Minister, categorically stated, “Not at all.”

However, he remained vague when asked about consensus on power-sharing within the current coalition’s turn-by-turn dynamics.

Addressing inquiries on how power-sharing would unfold in the present coalition, the septuagenarian leader cryptically replied, “You will know for yourself.”

NC leader Dr. Shashanka Koirala echoed Deuba’s sentiments, expressing disbelief in the reinstatement of monarchy.

While acknowledging citizens’ discontent with the government’s performance, he called for unity among all political parties to safeguard the republican system.

“I am not satisfied with the incumbent government’s performance. It appears to have neglected the progress and development of the country,” remarked Dr. Koirala, emphasizing the need for political collaboration to address doubts about the current governance system.

Regarding federalism, Dr. Koirala acknowledged its necessity but raised concerns about the current structure.

He stressed the importance of political parties coming together to dispel citizens’ doubts about the governance system.

On a different note, Dr. Koirala, a House of Representatives member from Nawalpur constituency no. 1 in the Nawalpur district, revealed persistent inquiries about the non-completion of the Narayangadh-Butwal road project to the construction company, yielding no results. He pledged to bring up this issue in parliament.
