Nepal crushes Mongolia by 273 auns in Asian Games T20 match

Nepal has scripted a remarkable cricketing milestone with a resounding victory of 273 runs against Mongolia in a match held during the Asian Games in China.  This monumental win now stands as the largest-ever margin of victory in T20 international cricket. Before this historic feat, the Czech Republic had set a world record with a 257-run win over Turkey, establishing an unmatched benchmark for the widest margin of victory.

PM Dahal and CPC Secretary Wang hold meeting

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and Secretary of the CPC Xizang Autonomous Regional Committee, Tibet, Wang Junzheng, held a meeting here on Wednesday. Prime Minister Dahal is on a week-long official visit to China.

NRB Survey Report reveals 16% surge in Foreign Direct Investment in Nepal in FY 2078/79

The Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has released a comprehensive survey report on foreign direct investment for the fiscal year 2078/79. The report, authored by the Economic Research Department of the central bank, aims to inform policy formulation by analyzing sectoral conditions and investment trends. NRB prepared the report based on data and details collected from a sample of 231 companies engaged in direct foreign investment in Nepal during the fiscal year 2078/79.

SC declares “Triple Talaq” unrecognized and illegal

The Supreme Court (SC) of Nepal has rendered a significant verdict, declaring “triple talaq,” a practice under Sharia law in the Muslim community, legally invalid. This ruling emerged from a case involving polygamy, with Manauwar Hasan and Meena Hasan as the defendants, filed by Savia Hasan. Manauwar’s marriage to Meena followed his divorce from Savia. In 2067 BS, the district court in Kathmandu cleared Manauwar and Meena of polygamy charges.

IBN signs agreement with Malaysian company for chemical fertilizer factory in Tanahu

The Investment Board, Nepal, and a Malaysian company have signed an agreement to conduct a feasibility study for the establishment of a chemical fertilizer factory in Nepal. IBN Chief Executive Officer Sushil Bhatta and Re-Nicola’s Managing Director Bomhidi Abdelali signed the contract from their respective sides amidst a program on Wednesday. Re-Nicola is a Malaysian company.

PM Dahal visits Lhasa today

Prime Minister (PM) Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ arrived in Lhasa, the capital of Tibet, an autonomous region of China that borders with Nepal, today in course of his official visit to China. The Prime Minister is presently on an official visit to the northern neigbour beginning on September 23. He arrived in Tibet from Chongqing of China at 12:00 noon as per the local time. Upon arrival at the Lhasa Gonggar Airport, the Prime Minister was received by officials of Tibet government led by its executive vice president.

Government takes responsibility for safety of doctors: Health Minister Basnet

Minister for Health and Population Mohan Basnet has said the government will take the responsibility of providing security to the doctors. Talking to journalists here today, he condemned the incidents of assault on doctors. “Every day, such sad incidents have been taking place. This is regrettable. Discussions are being frequently held on this matter amongst the Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister, the Health and Population Minister and the Minister for Education, Science and Technology,” he shared.

Tourism Minister Kirati welcomes foreign tourists

Foreign tourists were welcomed at the Kathmabdu-based Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) on the occasion of World Tourism Day today. Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Sudan Kiranti welcomed foreign tourists who arrived TIA via the first flight of the Turkish Airlines this morning.

Dengue claims 17 lives and infects over 30,000 in Koshi Province

The Koshi province has been grappling with a devastating dengue outbreak since mid-July, resulting in the tragic loss of 17 lives and infecting more than 30,000 individuals. Sunsari district, in particular, has borne the brunt of this crisis, reporting the highest number of dengue infection cases. In this district alone, 13 people have succumbed to the disease, while 19,432 others have fallen victim to dengue since mid-July, according to Bibechana Chamlagain, the Public Health Officer of Koshi Province Health Directorate in Dhankuta.
