KATHMANDU: Three people arrested on Tuesday in the Lalita Niwas land scam have been released by the police after making them sign the documents promising to appear before authority when called.
Former joint secretary Kaladhar Deuja, former undersecretary Hupendramani KC, and Surendra Kapali were arrested and released within a few hours.
Earlier, the Supreme Court had issued an interim order to investigate the three without arresting them and keeping them out of custody.
After submitting the evidence of the Supreme Court’s interim order, the three accused were released by the police with documents.
The investigation on the case and the accused will continue irrespective of whether they are released on bail or remanded in custody.
The police arrested seven people in the Lalita Niwas land scam on Tuesday.
Out of the arrested seven, former Commissioner of Election Commission Sudhir Kumar Shah, director of Bhatbhateni Supermarket Min Bahadur Gurung, Surendraman Kapali, Dharma Prasad Gautam, and Gopal Karki are in police custody.
