PM directs universities to implement academic calendar effectively



KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has called for the effective implementation of the academic calendar in universities.

During his speech at a meeting commemorating the 64th anniversary of the TU Senate, the Prime Minister, who also serves as the TU Chancellor, emphasized the importance of prioritizing the best interests of students and their guardians by saving time and costs, ultimately ensuring a prosperous future for each student.

The Prime Minister specifically instructed the TU to ensure the efficient execution of the academic calendar, timely completion of classes, conducting exams, and publishing results. In his role as the TU Chancellor, PM Dahal mentioned that he has been closely monitoring and evaluating the academic and administrative aspects of the university.

He highlighted ongoing efforts to identify the challenges faced by the TU through discussions, dialogues with stakeholders, and formal gatherings, emphasizing the need to address emerging issues.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister emphasized the necessity of formulating and implementing both short-term and long-term plans to further advance the university. He assured the government’s support in achieving this goal.

Additionally, he stressed the importance of discussions to explore ways of producing high-quality TU graduates who can meet the demands of the national and global scenarios and compete in the global market.

Acknowledging the TU’s position as the country’s leading, oldest, and largest university, the Prime Minister emphasized its responsibility to lead and guide other universities and Health Science Academies in the nation’s teaching and research endeavors.
