Dr. Bhattarai urges avoidance of ‘Ifs and Buts’ to release Resham Chaudhary and authentication of Citizenship Bill

KATHMANDU: Dr. Baburam Bhattarai, the former Prime Minister, has suggested all parties involved to avoid getting caught up in “ifs and buts” regarding the granting of amnesty to leaders, including Resham Chaudhary, in accordance with the Constitution, as well as the authentication of the Citizenship Bill by the President.

It should be noted that a meeting of the Cabinet held on Friday decided to urge President Ram Chandra Paudel to authenticate the Citizenship Bill.

In addition, the government is making preparations to grant amnesty to Resham Chaudhary, who has been accused of masterminding the Tikapur carnage in 2015.

Dr. Bhattarai expressed his opinion on Twitter, emphasizing the need for swift authentication of the Citizenship Bill passed by the Parliament, as well as advocating for granting amnesty to Chaudhary.

Bhattarai tweeted, “Let us not forget that democracy is a system that ensures justice and equality for the people, while also upholding due process.”
