NC’s Surendra Raj Pandey to be appointed Gandaki Province CM

POKHARA: Surendra Rraj Pandey of the Nepali Congress (NC) is being appointed as the Chief Minister of Gandaki Province today.

Provincial Chief Prithviman Gurung has asked parties to form a majority government according to Article 168 of the Constitution by 4 pm today.

A coalition government comprising Nepali Congress and Maoist Center is going to be formed after CPN-UML’s Khagaraj Adhikari, who was appointed Chief Minister with the support of the Maoist Center and Rastriya Prajatantra Party, failed to get a vote of confidence.

According to the constitutional provision, if a party withdraws its support, a vote of confidence should be taken within one month.
