CPN-UML decides to quit government

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML has decided to quit the government led by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda.

A meeting of the party’s Secretariat held this morning decided to quit the government, and withdraw its support to the government.

Contrary to the agreement reached on December 25, 2022, during the formation of the government, the ruling coalition collapsed when the Maoist Center supported the Nepali Congress for the presidency.

But the UML had earlier decided to wait until the presidential election on March 9, saying that it was in favor of the implementation of the agreement of December 25.

However, the UML party decided to quit after Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal stopped Foreign Minister Bimala Rai Poudel from flying to Geneva.
