KATHMANDU: The CPN-Maoist Center has decided to forge a national consensus on the presidential candidate.

A meeting of the party’s Standing Committee held at the party’s central office in Parisdanda, Kathmandu on Friday decided to seek a national consensus on the presidential candidate.

“Majority of the party leaders emphasized that there should be a national consensus on the issue of electing the President,” Maoist Center Spokesperson Krishna Bahadur Mahara said after the meeting.

He hinted that the presidential candidate could be from neither CPN-UML nor Nepali Congress (NC).

Mahara added that the party would initiate discussion on the issue of picking the name for the presidential candidate with both UML and NC.
