KATHMANDU: The government is gearing up to host a significant investment conference in the upcoming April. This event marks the third iteration of the investment conference in Nepal.

Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat, the Finance Minister, revealed that meticulous arrangements are underway to convene the investment conference in Kathmandu on April 21st and 22nd. A steering committee, helmed by the finance minister, has been established to oversee the proceedings.

Today, the inaugural meeting of the board of directors took place, where Finance Minister Dr. Mahat shared insights into the forthcoming investment conference.

“The groundwork for the investment conference has commenced. This platform isn’t solely focused on attracting foreign investment; it aims to unite Nepali and non-resident investors as well. We will actively engage foreign embassies to promote the investment conference,” mentioned Finance Minister Dr. Mahat.

The organization of the conference involves an implementation committee chaired by the chief secretary and a technical committee led by the secretary of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and Supply. The secretariat for the third investment conference will be housed within the Office of the Investment Board of Nepal.

Tasks such as legal reforms, addressing technical aspects, disseminating information among investors, and other related responsibilities will be overseen by the implementation and technical committees.

Furthermore, Finance Minister Dr. Mahat directed the preparation of projects to be highlighted as ‘Showcase’ initiatives during the investment conference.
