Nepal clinches title of T-20 Quadrangular Series 2023
Nepal defeated Hong Kong by 13 runs in the final of the women’s T-20 Quadrangular series undergoing in Malaysia.
After the rain prevented the match between Nepal and Hong Kong, the winner was announced according to the Duckworth-Lewis method of the game.
After losing the toss and batting first, Hong Kong gave Nepal a target of 102 runs. Hong Kong managed to score 101 runs after losing 6 wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
Coming into batting, Nepal could play only 5.3 overs. The game was canceled due to rain. Nepal scored 37 runs by scoring 1 wicket in 5.3 overs and Nepal managed to win by 13 runs using the Duckworth-Lewis method.
This is the first big international title of the Nepali National Women’s Team.
Tilganga City Eye Centre comes into operation in Chuchepati
The Tilganga Eye Hospital has brought into operation the ‘Tilganga City Eye Centre’ in Chuchepati, Kathmandu to provide all types of treatment related to eye problems.
The Centre has been brought into operation to provide eye treatment to needy people by a team from Tilganga Eye Hospital. It has adopted the public-private partnership (PPP) approach.
PM Dahal fueled ethnic tensions: Dr. Shekhar Koirala
Nepali Congress leader Dr. Shekhar Koirala leveled accusations against Prime Minister and CPN-Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, alleging his attempts to ignite ethnic conflict within the nation.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the Nepal Press Union’s Morang branch in Biratnagar, Dr. Koirala pointed a finger at Prime Minister Dahal, asserting that he is exacerbating conflicts just when religious harmony is dwindling.
UML Secretariat meeting rescheduled for August 30
The CPN-UML’s Secretariat meeting, originally planned to take place at Sarre Ambas in Dhangadimai Municipality, Siraha district starting today, has been rescheduled to convene on August 30.
The decision to postpone the meeting comes in light of the relentless rain, as explained by UML’s district chairperson, Chandeshwor Mandal.
Party Chairperson KP Oli had embarked on a journey to Biratnagar earlier today to participate in the aforementioned meeting.
No hassles in NRN citizenship: DPM Shrestha
Prime Minister and Home Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha has expressed his commitment to make the regulations related to non-resident Nepali citizenship soon and ease the process of obtaining it.
In a meeting with a delegation led by the Executive President of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) at the Ministry of Home Affairs at Singha Durbar, he said that the government is committed to making the provisions to be included in the regulations related to non-resident Nepali citizenship-friendly.
American senator Hollen to visit Nepal
Senator Chris Van Hollen, a member of the US Senate Foreign Affairs and Appropriations Sub-Committee on State and Foreign Operations, is to visit Nepal.
He is scheduled to reach Kathmandu in the first week of September.
During his visit to Nepal, Hollen will meet with government officials, youth leaders, parliamentarians, representatives of civil society, representatives of non-profit organizations and businesspersons, according to the information provided by Senator Hollen’s secretariat.
