Gold smuggling case: Department of Revenue Investigation raids businessman Adukiya’s residence

The Revenue Investigation Department (RID) on Wednesday conducted a raid at the residence of businessman Rakesh Kumar Adukiya in Kamal Pokhari as part of an ongoing investigation into a case involving 100 kilograms of smuggled gold. Sources indicate that a dedicated team from the Department was involved in the operation to search for evidence related to the alleged gold smuggling.

Department of Revenue Investigation raids Ready Trader’s warehouse in Kathmandu

The Department of Revenue Investigation conducted a raid on a warehouse belonging to Ready Traders Pvt Ltd allegedly involved in a one-quintal gold smuggling case. The raid took place on Wednesday evening in Sohrakhutte, Kathmandu. During the raid, a substantial quantity of ‘brake shoes’ was discovered in the warehouse.

HoR meeting adjourned after UML protest, next meeting on July 31

The meeting of the House of Representatives has been adjourned, on Wednesday, due to the obstruction of the main opposition party CPN-UML. The UML lawmakers, who started protesting immediately after the commencement of the HoR meeting today, had allowed the meeting till the lawmakers finished their deliberations on the gold smuggling scam.

Investigation officer dies in Sarlahi accident

An investigation officer reportedly died in a motorcycle accident at Khoriya Tole of Ishwarpur municipality-9 in Sarlahi. The deceased has been identified as Basant Shah, 29, of Ishwarpur municipality-6, who was the inspector for the National Investigation Department, according to District Police Office’s Superintendent of Police, Naresh Raj Subedi.

Gold price up by Rs 500 per tola today

Gold price increased by Rs 500 per tola in the domestic market today. According to the Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association, the price of fine gold has been set at Rs. 112,700 per tola, while standard gold is being traded at Rs. 112,150 per tola.

PM Dahal advocates for collective efforts to end ill-practices

228 drown in Dang in five years

The number of people losing their lives due to drowning is surging in Dang in recent years, shows the statistics maintained by the District Emergency Operations Centre, Dang. In the last five years, 228 people died due to drowning in Dang district. Among them, 174 were male and 54 women of different age groups, said Sushil Vaidya, Chief District Officer (CDO) of Dang.

‘The Red Suitcase’ selected for 80th edition of Venice Film Festival

‘The Red Suitcase’ directed by Fidel Devkota has been selected for the 80th Venice Film Festival. The Nepali film, which portrays the impact of foreign employment in Nepali society, was selected for the festival under the Horizon category, shared Devkota. This is the third Nepali film that made it to Venice Film Festival after ‘Kalo Pothi’ and ‘Seto Surya’.
