UML set to obstruct Parliament demanding Home Minister’s resignation

KATHMANDU: The main opposition party CPN-UML is gearing up to obstruct today’s scheduled House of Representatives meeting at 1 p.m.

According to party insiders, the CPN-UML intends to demand the resignation of Home Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha during the parliamentary session.

UML’s Chief Whip, Padam Giri, announced that the party will be holding a parliamentary party meeting today to discuss their course of action.

The demand for Home Minister Shrestha’s resignation stems from his alleged mishandling of the one-quintal gold smuggling case, which the CPN-UML considers a display of “weakness.”

It’s worth mentioning that UML Chairman KP Oli publicly criticized Home Minister Shrestha at Tribhuvan International Airport upon his return from Cambodia on Monday night.
