KATHMANDU: The victims of the Tikapur incident have submitted a petition to the President’s Office asking him not to grant amnesty to murder accused Resham Chaudhary.

The victim Sharada Kadayat Bohra filed a petition saying that the government is going to release Chaudhary on the occasion of Republic Day by giving amnesty on May 29.

The petitioner is the wife of Police Inspector (Inspector) Keshav Bohora, who was killed in the Tikapur massacre. Sharada argued that all three tiers of the court gave the verdict that the culprit should not be given amnesty and Chaudhary should be held for the same.

On August 24, 2015, nine people including SSP Laxman Neupane, Inspector Bohra, eight security personnel, and a child were killed in a demonstration demanding Tharuhat in Tikapur of Kailali.

It was revealed that the movement was led by Resham, who is currently in jail. Resham was sentenced to life imprisonment by District Court Kailali, High Court Dipayal, and Supreme Court.

The government started the process of releasing Chaudhary, who is currently in Dillibazar jail, on May 29, the Republic Day.
