KATHMANDU: The meeting of the House of Representatives has been postponed due to the obstruction from the lawmakers of the main opposition party CPN-UML.
The UML lawmakers interrupted the meeting saying that some lawmakers have made false accusations against made baseless allegations against their party chairman KP Oli.
“The lawmakers of the ruling party have made false accusations against our chairman Oli in the Jalahari installation at Pashupatinath temple incident,” UML Chief Whip Padam Giri said in the parliament, adding, “The allegations are ill-intent and meant to defame our party and party chairman Oli.”
Earlier, CPN-Maoist Center lawmaker Lekhnath Dahal had said, on Wednesday, that there was corruption in the making and installation of gold Jalahari at Pashupatinath and then Prime Minister Oli could have been involved in the corruption.
Dahal had demanded that there should be an investigation into the issue.
The UML lawmakers got up from their seats and started protesting immediately after Speaker Devraj Ghimire announced the commencement of the meeting.
After the obstruction, Speaker Ghimire gave time to UML Parliamentary Party Chief Whip Giri to speak.
Giri demanded that the statement be expunged from the record and lawmaker Dahal apologize on the issue.
Following his speech, UML lawmakers protested again and the Speaker postponed the meeting for 20 minutes.
