Home Minister Shrestha expresses grief over attempted assault on UML Chair Oli



KATHMANDU: Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Narayankaji Shrestha has expressed grief over the incident of stone pelting on CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli in Jhapa.

Speaking in the House of Representatives meeting on Wednesday, Home Minister Shrestha shared the government’s commitment to control such activities.

“I regret the incident relating to the attempted attack on UML Chairman Oli and would like to ensure that the government would curb such heinous activities,” he said, adding, “The government will leave no stone unturned to book the guilty.”

Minister Shrestha informed that the police detained one person involved in the incident.

A group protesting against the naming of Koshi province had shown a black flag and pelted stones against UML Chair Oli on Wednesday.

Earlier, UML chief whip Padam Giri had objected to the attempted assault against party chairman Oli.

The UML chair is in Jhapa to attend party program.
