Protesters wave black flags at UML Chair Oli in Jhapa



JHAPA: Protesters demanding the removal of the name ‘Koshi’ of Province-1 waved black flags at CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli in Jhapa on Wednesday.

They also shouted slogans against UMl Chairman Oli for endorsing “Koshi” as the name of the Province.

They shouted slogans like “We don’t accept Koshi Pradesh,” among others.

The protestors have been demanding that the province should have an identify-based name.

Meanwhile, in Kathmandu, Home Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha informed the House of Representatives that two demonstrators have been arrested by the police for displaying black flags to UML Chairman Oli.

Home Minister Shrestha’s response comes after CPN-UML whip Padam Giri said that Chairman Oli was abused in Jhapa.

Giri also accused the ruling political parties for infiltrating their party cadres in the demonstration against Oli.
