KATHMANDU: The officials of the Civil Aviation Authority, Nepal (CAAN) have said that an investigation has been started against the Air India pilot for reaching abnormally close to Nepal Airlines plane during its flight towards Kathmandu.
Last Friday, a Nepal Airlines plane coming from Kuala Lumpur to Kathmandu was suddenly alerted that another plane was approaching.
According to Civil Aviation Authority officials, an Air India plane came close to the plane of Nepal Airlines, which was preparing to land in Kathmandu.
“When it was found that the Nepal Airlines plane was flying at 15,000 feet above, the Air India plane, which was flying at 19,000 feet, suddenly lowered its altitude and came close to Nepal Airlines,” said Jagannath Niraula, spokesperson of the Civil Aviation Authority.
Spokesperson Niraula informed that the Tribhuvan International Airport officials asked Indian Airlines pilot to increase the altitude and Nepal Airlines plane to decrease the altitude after the radar noticed the planes.
CAAN has started the investigation on the on duty officials at the TIA Air Traffic Control room officials as well.
