Study of Lichchavi-era Vihar begins



NUWAKOT: The Department of Archeology has begun the study of the famous Swayambhu Chaitya Vihar located in Bidur Municipality-2 of Nuwakot.

The Vihar is believed to have been built during the Lichchavi period about 1400 hundred years ago.

The Department has started a study to reconstruct it in an archaeological form following excavation, study, and exploration.

Spokesperson of the department Ram Bahadur Kunwar shared that archaeologists from Durham University in the UK have started collecting information on the underground structures with the use of latest tools.

The study has begun from the underground part as it was found that the archeological nature of the structure in the existing condition did not match.

Spokesperson Kunwar based on the facts found and seen in the underground part the next phase study will be started after receiving the report on it.

Two archaeologists from the Durham University are working on the site to collect the necessary details.
