PM Dahal lauds Khusiram Pakhrin’s contributions to culture and political movements

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister and CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that Khusiram Pakhrin’s cultural contribution, integrity, and sacrifices in Nepal’s political revolution are memorable.

At a program organized on the occasion of Pakhrin’s Sixth Memorial Day on Saturday, the PM said all should emulate from Pakhrin’s sincerity and commitment to the party policies and leadership.

“Pakhrin has a unique contribution to Nepal’s progressive literature. Principled, dedication to the goals, revolution and movement, simplicity and accessibility are his characteristics,” the PM said.

The PM went on to say that Pakhrin never had arrogance but lived a life with simple and positive vibes.

Recalling Pakhrin’s skills in singing, songwriting, and music, PM Prachanda said, “Pakhrin was multitalented”.
The PM recalled his first meeting with Pakhrin during the anti-Panchayat movement of 2036 BS and added that his contributions were crucial in the people’s war and in the peace process as well.

Likewise, PM Prachanda appreciated Pakhrin’s contributions to expanding the Maoist party’s organization among Nepalis diaspora in India.

Also speaking at the event, cultural figure and Maoist Centre leader Ishwar Chandra Gyawali said that Pakhrin’s songs were for the cause of revolution, liberation, sacrifice, and freedom. “He wrote songs to arouse patriotic feelings and prod the people of the proletariat class against the feudal,” Gyawali added.

On the occasion, the PM also released a publication prepared in memory of the late Pakhrin.

The publication comprises the articles of PM Dahal, Mani Thapa, Gunaraj Lohani, Renu Dahal, Ishwar Chandra Gyawali, Amik Sherchan, Komalnath Baral, Prakash Silwal, Jhalak Pani Tiwari and others.

Born in 2009 BS in Gorkha, Pakhrin was an advisor of the CPN (Maoist Center).
