Sale, consumption of alcohol in Banke banned until midnight

BANKE: A prohibition has been enforced on the sale and consumption of alcohol until midnight in Banke district today, as announced by the Banke District Administration Office.

The ban has been put in place to maintain religious harmony during the imminent burial of the goddess idol at the local ponds, scheduled for today.

The decision was made in consideration of the cultural significance when the immersion of the revered Durga Bhawani idol takes place across various locations in the district.

To ensure a peaceful and respectful environment for the Durga idol immersion rally throughout the day, the transportation, sale, and consumption of alcohol will remain prohibited in the district from 8.00 am to 12.00 pm on Wednesday.

“The issuance of this notification aims to uphold the overall peace, security, order, and public welfare of the district,” the District Administration Office said.
