SARLAHI: In response to recent protests and escalating concerns over public safety, the Sarlahi District Administration Office has reduced the curfew period to 8 pm-4 am and extended it tonight as well.

This decision follows a series of demonstrations characterized by acts of vandalism, arson, stone pelting, and general disorderly conduct.

The curfew order was issued at 10:00 pm Thursday night until further notice after two communities clashed while immersing the idol of Lord Ganesh, Chief District Officer of Sarlahi Indra Dev Yadav said.

The curfew order has been issued up to Jhim river in the east to the Musaili canal in the west and the Nepal-India border area in the south to the police post near Baba Petrol Pump in the north, the administration said.

The locals have been asked not to travel, gather and carry out any outdoor activities during the time of curfew order.

In the meantime, Malangwa Mayor Nagendra Raya shared that the local administration has facilitated an agreement between the clashing parties and assured that everything will be normal in the area soon.
