People’s movements defamed via social networking sites: PM Dahal

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has expressed concern over the efforts made via social networking sites to defame the Maoist movement and Madhes movement in recent times. Addressing an assembly organized by the socialist front here Friday, PM Dahal argued, “Misleading and fabricated news were spread targeting Maoist movement and Madhes movement. It is a worrying trend of the hour. We’ve taken it seriously.”

Foreign Minister Saud emphasizes advancement of foreign relations guided by national priorities

Minister of Foreign Affairs, NP Saud has emphasized his commitment to advancing foreign relations by placing national interest at the forefront. Speaking at a program organized by the Institute for Strategic and Socio-Economic Research (ISSR) on “Challenges and Opportunities in Nepal’s Foreign Policy”, held at Pavilion Hall, Durbar Marg on Friday, Minister Saud highlighted the promotion of foreign relations guided by national priorities.

UML will form govt in Koshi: UML Chair Oli

CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli has claimed that his party will form the government in Koshi province. Talking to media persons at Biratnagar Airport on Friday, Chairman Oli remarked that there is instability in Koshi due to the undemocratic and unconstitutional activities of the ruling coalition. The UML Chairman opined that the political dilemma and confusion in Koshi was the outcome of the ruling coalition which claimed to form the government without actually fulfilling the basic requirements.

Alert issued as water level surges in Saptakosi River

An alert was issued due to a significant rise in the water level of the Saptakosi River. The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has reported that the water level at Chatara has surpassed the critical mark of 6 meters, triggering concern.

Women’s T20 Quadrangular Series: Nepal, Hong Kong march into final

Nepal has secured its berth in the final of the Women’s T20 Quadrangular Series underway in Malaysia despite its defeat to Malaysia in today’s match. Nepal will be meeting Hong Kong in the final to be held on Saturday. While Nepal, Hong Kong, and Malaysia all have accumulated four points each, it is Nepal and Hong Kong that have advanced to the final based on their superior run rates. These three teams each won two matches during the group stage.

Investment Board approves backing four hydropower projects

The Investment Board Nepal (IBN) has approved investment equivalent to Rs 36.37 billion for the development of four hydropower projects. A meeting of IBN chaired by Board Chair and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ today endorsed the investment for the Rolwaling Khola, Chhujung Khola, Dana Khola and Sanibheri hydropower projects.
